Seeking a Steward for the Monastery's Finances

The monastery’s finances are looked after by lay volunteers, as monks and nuns are not allowed to deal with money.  We are looking for someone, preferably with financial experience, to lead the team of volunteers who currently do this.  The lay treasurer supervises the monastery’s finances, prepares an annual budget and oversees the financial systems and bank accounts used at Cittaviveka to receive donations, claim Gift Aid, and make payments on behalf of the monastery.  The treasurer is at the heart of our being able to demonstrate good stewardship of the generous support that the monastery receives from lay supporters at home and overseas.  This involves working closely with the senior Sangha, other members of the Cittaviveka Advisory Group, and the English Sangha Trust.

It is essential that the Treasurer has a good basic understanding of finance and budgets, and is reasonably proficient with Excel.  Professional support and advice are readily available from EST colleagues.

If you might be interested, please talk informally to the retiring treasurer, Graham Winyard who will be happy to explain more about what is involved, and can be contacted by email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or 07867538262.
