Part-Time; working up to 1 day/week, & for the residential 'Summer Forest Week', & 2 weeks during the 'Winter Work Month'.

Job Outline; This is an exciting opportunity for someone who may be a practising Buddhist, or have an interest in Buddhism, to use their skills within a traditional Buddhist Monastery setting.  You will be managing 150 acres of mixed woodland, heathland glades, a Hammer Pond, and two ancient scheduled monuments.  Hammer Wood is a site of local wildlife importance in the Wealden Greensand area of the South Downs National Park.  You will carry out  a variety of practical tasks working on your own, and with volunteers. You will also need to carry out administrative work, such as managing the Forest Committee, and administering a Higher Level Grant Scheme (HLS), including re-applying in 2018.  You need to be confident, proactive & enthusiastic, with good communication skills, and a good knowledge of wildlife/land management. 

Essential; A Chainsaw Certificate and a full UK driving licence.
